MARLBORO EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION HOLDS ITS FIRST WINE TASTING EVENT

On January 23, 2006 the Marlboro Educational Foundation held its first wine tasting event with dinner and silent auction.

The event took place at Brioso’s Restaurant located in the Willow Point Shopping Center on Route 9 in Marlboro. Joyce Sugarman, a Marlboro Educational Foundation trustee, along with Teja Anderson, the foundation president co-chaired the event. Joyce’s expertise in fund raising helped arrange the wine tasting through the Wine Library from Springfield, NJ as well as worked with Brioso’s Restaurant to accommodate the 130 people that attended the event. Teja was instrumental in putting together all the beautiful gift baskets that were available through the silent auction that was held. All the foundation trustees were extremely instrumental in getting this successful event off the ground.

The Wine Library supplied seven different wines for tasting including a sweet Kir Royale, a couple of white wines, a white wine mix, a cabernet sauvignon, and a shiraz.  These wine were all available for purchase through the Wine Library website. Brioso’s served a four-course dinner along with appetizers on each table. The silent auction items were donated mostly by MEF trustees and they included many theme oriented ideas ranging from a basket full of of Emeril items, Italian Gourmet products and a Stay-At-Home-Evening-For- Two  basket which included 6 DVDs, wine, 3 recipe books, placemats and napkins.  There was something for everyone.

Laughter, smiles, friendly conversation, good food and wine and a general enthusiasm filled the air over four hours. State senator Ellen Karcher was there along with School Superintendent Dr. David Abbot and Mayor Robert Kleinberg. The event raised over $7,000 for the Foundation.

The Marlboro Educational Foundation is proud to call the evening a great success! It looks forward to it next big event, A Restaurant Tasting Evening, to held on April 24th at the Excelsior Caterers on Route 9 in Manalapan.  Anyone seeking information about the Foundation and its upcoming events can contact Ms. Anderson at (732) 817-1482 or go to our website at www.marlboroeducationalfoundation.org.
